June 20 2011 Peggy's Cove.

Theodore the tug in front of downtown.
What a great day. The sun is shining and 20deg. So nice to see after so much unsettled weather. We left at 8.45am for Peggy's cove, which is 50 mins away. Really enjoyed our day what a beautiful place and the coastline was amazing all the way, full of waterways, inlets, jetties, islands, and little villages.

The map shows where we went today. Starting off from Halifax and drove round the yellow line from the right. As you can see all the inlets and coves. Lots of waterways. Photos below are some of the bays. Just beautiful. And look at the wonderful weather.

Peggy's Cove Light house sitting on top of all the granite in this area. A lot of kitchen bench tops. If only I could bring some home. Its all around this coast.

Pete standing on the granite. Below Peggy's Cove harbour.

The memorial for Flight 111 Swiss Air that went down in the ocean off these shores.
299 men, women and children were aboard, who perished September 2 1998. The memorial is made from the granite.

Driving on from Peggy's Cove we found this lovely spot for lunch, on the waters edge. Thats Pete sitting back in the middle, waiting for his meal.

                                          Wheres Lunch, looking very relaxed.

This is half the sandwich we ordered each. Montreal beef, pickles, mustard between bread. Hows that for lots of meat which was great after all our lobster and chinese meals we have been having lately..

After we did the loop out to Peggy's Cove drove back to town and drove out nearer the mouth of the harbour, to Point Pleasant Park. This is on the waters edge of the park.
Looking over the harbour to downtown Halifax from Dartmouth where we are staying.
Before returning to our hotel drove nearly to the mouth of the harbour on Dartmouth side.
By now we had travelled 97 miles and back to base for coffee.
Great day and the sun is still shining.
