June 16 2011 Baddeck Nova Scotia.

Don't leave your old Toyotas around (or baked bean tins)

Ferry we took to cross from PEI to Nova Scotia

                                         Its very cold over here.

Below- Alexander Bell's museum in Baddeck over looking the bay.
Left  Charlottetown at 7.30am to catch the 9.30am ferry from Wood Islands PEI. over to Nova Scotia. Arrived at the ferry  at  8.15am. Pete can’t be seen to be late. Cost $70. Boat crossing 75 mins., Plus  we travelled 300kms in the car.
Still  very  cold and cloudy. Everyone keeps telling us it should be in the 20’s this time of the year not 13/14.
Crossed  over to Nova Scotia. Arrived at Baddeck 1.30pm, Checked into our motel. First time that we have used a motel, not the best but maybe we have just been too spoiled.
Went downtown Baddeck  to Alexander Bell’s Museum  Very interesting. There is a lot about the man besides  telephones.   He mainly spent his time working with deaf people,  where  he met his wife whom was deaf. So he wasn’t just an inventor. Very  rich man.
He came to Baddeck where he decided to reside as he liked it so much. The quietness,  the large waterways/ Lake which are sea water. He was into making large fast boats so the lake was perfect .
Baddeck  is a nice little village right on the edge of Bras d’ Or  Lake and our motel is just across the road from the lake. Our room has a big window which looks over the lake.
We are hoping  for a sunny day tomorrow as we are doing the Cabot Trial a loop around both coastlines  on Cape Breton which is 300kms and they say it can take between 6-8 hours. We will see. The views are supposed to be great.
No time to post pictures today as trying to connect  is very hard so doing this off line and will try and post later. Have to go up the hill a little and sit there, but way too cold for that. Didn’t really take many photos today just a driving day.
