June 18 2011 Halifax Nova Scotia.

                                       Residential street in Halifax

Crossing the bridge over to Halifax mid- afternoon. 1 1/2 hours later that sea fog had come in (I think that it is following us), and below is what the bridge was like then. We are staying in Dartmouth side of the city. Cheaper area but it will do. Hotels cost a lot more in the city. As we have the car not a problem especially in the weekends when less traffic in the city and free parking.

Later in afternoon, waterfront downtown Halifax. We went to the marine museum weather not too bad then when we came out, the fog came from no where. Couldn't even see the harbour.

We left Baddeck at 8.50am and drove straight down to Halifax. took about 4 1/2 hours, 221miles (350kms)

On the way the weather wasn't too bad cloudy but definately felt a little warmer.

Went straight to book in at the Comfort Inn in Dartmouth. Not a great area but price good and as we have a car no probs to drive into town.

Couldn't believe it when that sea fog swept in. It seemed to come from nowhere and was moving in very fast.

Decided to go back to base and thought we would go and buy some beers and a SMALL bottle of brandy. Well took us about 1/2 hour to find the bottle store. After a lot of shaking (just kidding) got back to Hotel. By now it was pouring with rain. Saw a chinese shop just across the road so ran over and came back with a good feed.

Not a lot to talk about today as just drove, but did have time to do the marine museum which was very interesting. It was opened in 1948 and the collection of marine artifacts has grown to be one of the largest in the country, currently numbering nearly 26,000 objects.

We are here for three nights so perhaps another day in the city tomorrow if its not the predicted rain.

Thanks for your email Dempsey. Sounds like you are having fun.Well done Bruce.
