Were intending to go to St. Jacobs before we went to Oakville to Denis and Wanda’s today but as we had to return to Buffalo to change our rental cars over had to change our plans.
Didn’t leave Comfort Inn, Niagara Falls until 11.00am as didn’t have to rush today. Not a lot of miles to travel. Had to drive for ¾ hours back to Buffalo and back again so that took 1 -1/2 hours out of our time and an extra $20.00 in fuel, plus a couple of bridge tolls. Also had to pay an extra two days car insurance, as we really had two cars while the other one was getting its new tyres. We were told by the Buffalo company to make sure we claim all our extra expenses, stress and inconvenience so we will see what happens when we check the car back.
Everything was good, four new tyres and realignment was done. Goes really well now very comfortable. Probably better than the Rav 4 Toyota. Sorry about that Des. Can’t believe that we were given such a bad car when we were hiring it for a month. Couldn’t have gone another day the way it was.
At the moment sitting in the car in some little back street right on the edge of Lake Ontario looking across to Toronto. Can just see the high rises away in the distances.
Notice today that when going into Canada had to pay $3.25 to cross the border, but not when going into America . Haven’t found out why. Same the other day when we first arrived in Canada.
Arrived at D. & W’s in Oakville near Toronto at 4.00pm. Denis is retired whom was at home to greet us while Wanda was at work. She works at a bank in Toronto. Great to see them both again. We are not sure how long since we have seen each other but think that it might be about five or six years ago.
Denis cooked us a lovely meal which is always welcome to have a home cooked meal when you are travelling. Went for a walk after dinner then came back home and sat on the balcony until about 10.00pm then we all hit the sack. We have our own en suite in our room all very nice as they have just finished redecorating. They have only been in this house since August last year.
We missed out in going to St Jacobs yesterday as not enough time re car problem but D.&W have said that they haven’t been there and would like to take us tomorrow so looks like we won’t miss out after all. Its about 1 ¼ hours from their place..
